This tutorial guides you through changing the Administrator password on Windows Server 2012, 2016, and 2019. It also applies to changing passwords for other existing user accounts on your Windows server.
Preliminary Requirements:
- A Windows Server running one of the following operating systems: Windows Server 2012, 2016, or 2019.
Steps to Change the Password:
Log in to Your Server:
- Access your Windows Server 2012 or 2016 via Remote Desktop. For instructions on how to do this, refer to the tutorial here .
Open Computer Management:
- Click the "Start" button and select "Administrative Tools" (or "Windows Administrative Tools" for Windows Server 2016 and 2019).
- Double-click "Computer Management."
Navigate to User Management:
- Expand "Local Users and Groups."
- Click on "Users" and right-click the "Administrator" account.
Set a New Password:
- Select "Set Password..." and click "Proceed."
- Enter the new password twice and click "OK."
